Elimu

Elimu is the Swahili word for education. On one of my trips to Tanzania I made a stop at the Wali-ul-Asr Education center in Kibaha, couple hours away from the main city of Dar-es-Salam. The center is run as part of the educational division/program of WIPAHS - World Islamic Propagation and Humanitarian Services, an independent NGO that was started in 1984, when a group of friends teamed up with the sole purpose of improving the well being of fellow human beings and the local community from medical to community development. Today, the center's campus holds not only a nursery, primary and secondary school but a training institute for future teachers as well as an orphanage.
